Abstract: As an important indicator reflecting the effectiveness of China's ecological construction, forest coverage has attracted much attention. China's forest and grass have entered a period of high-quality development, to guide to implement the strictest farmland protection system of locality,reasonably determine the afforestation scope and greening objectives, and scientifically carry out afforestation and improving the quality of forest resources, as an major issues, urgently need to be solved at present.Based on the definition of forest coverage and the analysis of connotation evolution at home and abroad, a optimization mentality and calculation method of forest coverage were proposed in this article, and it's definition standard, calculation basis and data connection were discussed.
