Abstract: This study comprehensively analyzes the grassland resource base, restoration effect and existing problems based on the results of basic grassland delimitation in Kunming in 2024 and the implementation data of grassland ecological restoration projects from 2020 to 2025 . The results showed that the total area of grassland in Kunming was 124 437.81 hm², and the area of basic grassland was 30 448.62 hm², accounting for 24.47%; From 2020 to 2025, the total area of remediation projects is 9 446.67 hm², and the vegetation coverage in the project area monitoring plots increased by an average of 20 percentage points. However, there are still some problems, such as insufficient connection between the layout of restoration projects and basic grassland protection requirements, lack of funds for later management and protection, and insufficient technical promotion force. This study discusses and puts forward some strategies, such as the establishment of zoning, classification, grading and precise restoration system, the improvement of basic grassland management system, the establishment of diversified investment mechanism, and the promotion of local grass species, in order to provide a reference for the high-quality development of grassland in Kunming in the new era.
