Abstract:
Public participation is an important part in the process of national park construction. South Africa is one of the countries that established national parks earlier in the world, and has the international first-class level in the sustainable development of national parks, which is benefited from the successful experience in the establishment of public participation mechanism in national parks. This paper studies the mechanism of public participation in South African national parks, and summarizes its experience from five aspects: legal guarantee system, information disclosure system, public participation procedures in making management plans, participation methods, feedback and evaluation mechanisms. Further combined with the actual situation of China, this paper puts forward some suggestions to adapt to the construction of public participation mechanism of national parks in China.
