Abstract:
Natural reserves are the core natural ecological carriers, bearing important ecological security and biodiversity conservation functions. There exists a two-way coupling and collaborative empowerment relationship between the ecological restoration and ecological value transformation. They are the key to achieving a balance between the protection and development. This study focuses on a 5,500-acre near-natural transformation area of artificial eucalyptus forest in the Limushan section of the Hainan Tropical Rainforest National Park. Using methods such as stand stratification simulation, forest succession scenario simulation, and ecological service function model calculation, a tropical artificial forest near-natural transformation technology system was constructed. Based on industry standards and rainforest succession laws, the changes in ecosystem structure, biodiversity, and ecological service functions after 5 years of restoration implementation were projected. All the quantitative indicators are scenario predictions. The calculation is based on the “Forest Ecosystem Service Function Assessment Specification” (LY/T 1721—2020) and the tropical artificial forest succession models. The results are constrained by the unified research assumptions. The study shows that precise ecological restoration is the prerequisite foundation for ecological value cultivation and transformation. It can achieve the transformation of implicit ecological resources into diverse explicit values by reconstructing community structure and enhancing ecological service potential. The benefits of ecological value implementation can, in turn, support long-term restoration and management, forming a “restoration improvement - function enhancement - value transformation - feedback protection” sustainable closed loop. In response to the imbalance in protection and development of domestic natural reserves, this paper constructs a “technological precise adaptation - all-process dynamic regulation - diversified value transformation” collaborative development framework, forming a three-level restoration technology paradigm for degraded tropical artificial forests, clarifying the two-way coupling logic, and providing theoretical basis and practical paths for the simultaneous improvement of ecological quality and value of natural reserves.
