Abstract: Objective and accurate valuation of wildlife and its products(VWP) is essential to the wildlife protection tasks,such as law enforcement, value assessment of wildlife resources and natural asset appraisal. VWP standards are the basis . This paper clarifies the historical working context of VWP and its standard system, comments on existing VWP standards from the aspects of enacting department, species coverage, counting base, counting rules and so on, lists shortages, such as narrow coverage of species, unreasonable counting base, ambiguous counting rules, untimely renewal,etc, makes suggestion on more-species covering, narrowedto-species counting base, clear counting rules, adjusting betimes,etc.
