Abstract: The construction of national reserve forest is a strategic project to maintain timber safety and ecologicalsecurity. Guangxi as one of the first batch of national reserve forest construction pilot provinces and autonomous regions, introduced the development finance investment into the national reserve forest construction. At present, the project construction period has been more than half, so it is very necessary to carry out mid-term evaluation in time.Taking Guangxi national reserve forest project as an example, this paper explores the content and method of mid-term evaluation of national reserve forest project.The implementation status of the project management mechanism, project construction, implementation effect, and the risk sharing mechanism etc. were evaluated. By analyzed the main problems in the process of project implementation, suggestions of adjusting the structure of tree species, broadening financing channels, and establishing information management system were proposed in order to establish the national reserve forest project midterm evaluation index system, provide reference experience for the use of loans in the construction of forestry ecological projects to carry out the mid-term evaluation, and promote the construction of national reserve forest high-quality development.
