Abstract: Shanghai is located at the mouth of the Yangtze River and plays an important strategic role in the protection of ecological environment. There are 5 wetland categories and 13 wetland types in Shanghai by 2019. Total wetland area is 466189.13 hm², accounting for 73.53% of the total land area of the city. Based on the 2019 annual report of remote sensing monitoring of wetland resources in Shanghai, this paper summarizes the general situation and management status of wetland resources in Shanghai systematically. The paper points out some problems in the wetland protection work in Shanghai, such as the protection system, the management system etc. Finally, paper puts forward the protection strategies for the wetland resources in Shanghai in order to provide reference for wetland resources protection management and utilization.
