Abstract:
Updating the regional checklist of the bird based on the latest taxonomy system and research results is important for species conservation and management. According to the investigateddata and previous research, the checklist of bird in Honghe prefecture was revised and updated referring to
the Checklist on the Classification and Distribution of the Birds of China (
Third Edition). The total of 601 species were recorded, belonging to 19 orders and 85 families, accounts for 63.60% of the 945 species in Yunnan and 41.59% of the 1445 species in China. It makesHonghe prefecture into one of the most bird-rich regionsin Yunnan, which is due to the favourableecological environment and the special geographical features.This study also suggested that more conservation efforts should be concentrated on strengthening habitat protection and restoration, bird banding and law enforcement.
