Abstract:
To objectively assess the ecological health status of degraded grasslands and scientifically plan their restoration strategies, this study focuses on degraded grasslands at the Taitou Central Forest Farm in Lüliang Mountain Region. By innovating the traditional degradation assessment criteria, we developed a regional ecosystem health evaluation framework. Field sampling was conducted across diverse topography and vegetation types to collect soil erodibility data under varying environmental conditions. Integrating vegetation coverage, soil erodibility, slope characteristics, and elevation information, we calculated regional ecological health indices. Data analysis revealed conclusions consistent with field observations, validating the practical effectiveness of this evaluation system for assessing degraded grassland ecosystems. The introduction of regional ecosystem health assessment concepts provides a scientific basis for evaluating degraded grassland health status, addresses critical challenges in health classification during restoration processes, and offers systematic, accurate, and rigorously scientific solutions for ecological rehabilitation.
