Investigation and analysis on ancient and famous trees in urban planning area of Lhasa

This paper finds out the types, quantity, distribution, growth of ancient and famous trees resources in the urban planning area of Lhasa, analyzes and evaluates its characteristics in order to provide scientific basis for Lhasa to formulate protection and management measures.The results show that:(1) there are 12 families, 21 genera and 29 species(including variety, subspecies) of ancient and famous trees(including follow up resources of ancient trees);(2) the total number of ancient and famous trees(including follow up resources of ancient trees) is 2790, among them, there are 1914 ancient trees, 871 follow up resources of ancient trees and 5 famous trees;(3) ancient and famous trees have the characteristics of huge quantity, various species, many endemic species, wide distribution but relatively concentrated, it has high ornamental value, scientific value and protection value.
